Planning to fly soon? Expect some turbulence
News illustration

India’s biggest airlines — Air India and IndiGo — are cutting planned domestic flights for June–July.

Air India may reduce domestic flights by around 22%, and IndiGo by 7-10%, as per Reuters.

The main reason is soaring aviation fuel (ATF) prices caused by the West Asia conflict.

What's in it for you?

  • FEWER FLIGHTS MAY NEED BETTER PLANNING: Fewer flights mean lower seat availability during peak travel season and you may have to plan well in advance to get a seat.
  • COSTLIER TICKETS: Fewer flights + high fuel costs could make domestic air travel more expensive. The prices have already been rising since the last 2 months.
  • REFUNDS IF YOU ARE AFFECTED: The airline spokespersons have been quoted saying that affected passengers would be offered alternative flights, free date changes or full refunds.
