You can no longer apply for a PAN card using only your Aadhaar card from April 1.
Two things are now mandatory: your Aadhaar plus a separate proof of date of birth.
The old PAN application forms are also being scrapped. Revised formats will replace them, and the older versions will not be accepted from April 1.
What's in it for you?
KEEP MORE PROOF READY: Apart from your Aadhaar card, you will need to show any of these documents: birth certificate, voter ID, passport, driving licence, matriculation certificate, or a magistrate-issued affidavit.
NAME CHECK: Your name must now match exactly across your Aadhaar card and PAN application. Even minor variations could cause your application to be rejected. Check your Aadhaar card carefully before applying.
If your existing PAN card already has a name that doesn't match your Aadhaar card exactly, this is a good time to get that corrected before it creates problems down the line for tax filings, bank KYC, or investments.
